I never usually post about the cafe, which is housed in a cute little Victorian house at 94 Belvedere Road, Claremont, as I visit this place all the time. But they’ve undergone a little menu change, which resulted in an extremely tasty breakfast.
This post also introduces you to my lovely new camera (as yet unnamed – all good inanimate objects have their own names). And all of my breakfasts start with one of these.
Although there were numerous new things to try (including brioche French toast with toppings, as well as poached eggs with parmesan and pesto), Laurie and I both went for the eggs benedict. The Starlings version is served with pastrami, not bacon.
|Delicious! It disappeared quickly.|
For only R55, this was a great deal. It was one of the better breakfasts I’d had in a while.
While eating, we noticed that book pages had been pasted up onto the wall. As the book nerds that we are, we appreciated our view very much.
So, if you haven’t gone to visit Starlings yet, do it. The service is friendly, the food fresh and affordable and, if the weather plays along, you can enjoy your meal under a gazebo in the garden.
Phone Starlings at 021 671 6875.
PS: Starlings holds a fresh produce market every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm.
